This new primary school building is constructed using the EBS Elk timber frame system and was required to achieve high environmental standards as part of the client and planning requirements. As such, the school has reduced heating requirements due to its excellent fabric energy efficiency and exceptionally low air permeability. SRE advised the construction team on the BREEAM NC assessment post planning, including BREEAM criteria and evidence requirements, maximising credits around design features such as daylighting and a natural ventilation strategy. The school building also incorporates a large PV array to offset onsite CO2 emissions in support of the successful delivery of BREEAM ‘Very Good’.
