Bioclimatic Design

Bioclimatic Design refers to the design of buildings and external spaces based on local climate and environmental conditions, aimed at providing thermal and visual comfort whilst minimising energy consumption with the use of the most appropriate passive low-cost solutions.

Bioclimatic Design takes into consideration the surrounding built environment through an extensive wind/CFD study, solar radiation, shadow patterns and thermal analysis and provides detailed thermal comfort maps with or without vegetation. This level of analysis is essential for planning applications for large developments.

SRE’s in-house team of expert specialists work with design teams at the earliest stages of a design, modelling proposed projects, comparing different design iterations and advising on possible solutions for improvements to thermal and wind comfort.
