Artificial lighting needs to be considered during a development as it has the potential to become ‘light pollution’ if not used in suitable locations. ‘Light pollution’ can be harmful to wildlife and undermine enjoyment of the night sky, especially in areas with dark landscapes.

The initial design and setting the appropriate conditions during the planning stage is important.
