Shinfield Studios: Lights, camera, sustainability in action

SRE is helping deliver a sustainable future for the British film industry through our work at Shadowbox Studios Shinfield in Berkshire.

SRE has been working in partnership with Shadowbox Studios Shinfield and Bidwells to deliver projects across the site since 2021. During this time, we’ve ensured climate resilience and sustainability maintained their starring roles as the facilities have grown.

Our team has helped achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ ratings across the campus’ office buildings and we are currently managing the assessment for the studios and workshops which are also targeting ‘Excellent’. In addition, we’ve undertaken Passive Design Analysis and Materials Lifecycle Analysis to drive down operational energy consumption and champion the selection of low embodied carbon materials. We’ve also helped prioritise occupant comfort and minimise environmental impact through our Indoor Air Quality Plan, In-Use Operational Energy Assessment and Post Occupancy Evaluation.

Offering 18 sound stages, 430,000 sq ft of stage space, 125,000 sq ft of office space, 270,000 sq ft of support space and nine acres of backlot, Shinfield Studios has been home to major productions like Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Star Wars: The Acolyte, The Magic Faraway Tree and Last One Laughing.
